Flower Rhyming

Hello friends, happy Tuesday! How is it May already? Wowee. Summer will be here before we know it :). Have you seen any pretty spring flowers yet? The arrival of Spring is my favorite to watch. It’s like everything breathes, unfolds, and comes alive again, including us humans.

Today I’m sharing how to incorporate this flower inflatable in your classroom. I created a Pre-K/ K flower rhyming activity using this flower float. What are your favorite flowers? I love daisies and sunflowers. Let me know your favorites in the comments below.

Here are 5 flower activities:

1. Pre-K and K students can practice identifying the parts of a flower. Ask them if they’ve ever seen a flower before. What did it look like? Have you ever smelled flowers before?
   
   
2. Students can identify the color of the flower. What other colors can flowers be? What’s your favorite flower?
   
   
3. Play the flower rhyming activity as a station or in a small group. I created a rhyming/word family activity where students identify rhyming words using a flower inflatable. You can find it here. The teacher or student places a picture/word in the center of the flower. Then, the students will find matching petals that rhyme.
   
   
4. Ask the students to count the petals on the flower. Have you seen flowers with more petals before?
   
   
5. Write letters or sight words on the flower and ask students to identify them.
