Candy Corn Rhyming
Hello friends! Wow, somehow it’s almost November. Where does the time go? There are so many fun Fall activities to do these days. My husband always tries to talk me into going to haunted houses because they are his favorite. What are your favorite Fall activities? I love going to pumpkin patches and walking through corn mazes. Today I’m sharing how you can incorporate this candy corn inflatable in your classroom.
Are you a fan of candy corn? It seems people either love them or hate them. I like them, but only in small quantities 😉 (no more than 5). Any more than that tends to be nasty, but they do always smell good!
I created a Pre-K/K candy corn rhyming activity to use with this candy corn inflatable. Students will choose a picture, name it, and find other matching rhyming words. I love how excited students get about rhyming words, and the candy corn will engage them even more. You can grab the task card and rhyming activity here.
This candy corn activity would be perfect for small group or as a station. In small group, the students would each get a turn to identify the picture and match it to the correct candy corn. As a station, the students could partner up and take turns identifying and sorting the rhyming words on the candy corn. I’ve also included an answer key in case the students or teacher want to check their work.
With Halloween around the corner, you could also introduce the candy corn at circle time. Students would love sharing if they’ve ever eaten candy corn before. What does it smell like? What does it taste like? If allergies allow, you could do a candy corn taste test together.
I hope you all have a Happy Halloween! I’ll see you back here very soon 🙂 .
